NNA – Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday stressed Lebanon#39;s determination to end the war, renewing the country#39;s quot;literal adherencequot; to UN Resolution 1701.
quot;After more than ten months of war on Lebanon and Gaza, we are still paying a hefty price,quot; Mikati said at the beginning of a cabinet session at the Grand Serail. quot;We are adamant about stopping the war, and we stress Lebanon#39;s clear and literal adherence#39; to the provisions of Resolution 1701 and to fully implementing them,quot; he underlined.
According to Mikati, the implementation of the said resolution is key to reaching any solution.
quot;There are wary chances for the diplomacy that is mobilizing to prevent war and halt the Israeli aggressions; the foreign tours with foreign presidents and leaders, as well as with Arab brothers, have been stepped up, given the gravity of the Lebanese and regional situation,quot; he said. He vowed that his government will employ all its quot;capacities and friendships to protect the country and condemn Israel#39;s criminal acts.quot; He also deplored that the Israel#39;s quot;intransigence is threatening the war cessation efforts.quot;
quot;In these difficult times, we need to reinforce unity among the Lebanese,quot; he said. He then announced that in order to avert further tension over the situation of the state institutions, he decided to withdraw an item on filling the vacancy of a number of public posts from the cabinet session#39;s agenda.
