NNA -nbsp;A special cargo aircraft from Pakistan, carrying 100 tons of humanitarian aid from the Government and people of Pakistan for the brotherly people of Lebanon, arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport, Beirut yesterday.
The aid shipment comprises medicines, ready-to-eat meat, tents, tarpaulins, warm beddings, winter clothing and dry milk. This relief effort comes in response to the directives of Prime Minister of Pakistan H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, underscoring Pakistanrsquo;s commitment to supporting Lebanon during its time of need.
The aid shipment has been arranged by National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan (NDMA), in coordination with Al Khidmat Foundation Pakistan. The aid shipment was received at the Airport by H.E. nbsp;Salman Athar, Ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon nbsp;alongwith MP Fadi Alame, nbsp;Chairman Foreign Relations Committee of the Lebanese Parliament and officials of High Relief Commission of Lebanon.nbsp;
The aid consignment was formally handed over by Ambassador of Pakistan H.E. Salman Athar to the Minister of Public Health of Lebanon Dr Firas Abiad and nbsp;Minister of Environment and Coordinator of Government Emergency Response Dr. Nasser Yasin and the Secretary-General of the High Relief Commission, Major General Mohamed Kheir.nbsp;
While speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Athar said that the people of Pakistan continue to stand with their Lebanese brethren during these challenging times. The Ambassador also reaffirmed Pakistanrsquo;s full support for Lebanonrsquo;s sovereignty and territorial integrity and for the right of people of Lebanon to live in peace and security.
