The prosecutor charged with the fatal shooting of cameraman Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin last year said Friday she was “committed” to pursuing justice for the victims and warned: “No one is above the law.”
Today marks one year since Hutchins died. She was shot and killed by Baldwin in a fatal accident on set.
No one has been charged or even arrested for her murder, despite a year of legal back and forth, public squabbles and lawsuits.
Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies told DailyMail.com in a statement Friday that she is still awaiting the sheriff’s report on the shooting.
Only when she has it can she make a decision, but she gave the ominous warning: “No one is above the law.”

“On the anniversary of the tragedy on the Rust movie set in Santa Fe County, District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altweis remains committed to bringing justice to the victims and getting answers for the community.

“Once the District Attorney has received the full report from the Santa Fe County Sheriff, she and her team of professional attorneys and investigators will thoroughly review all of the evidence and make an informed decision about whether or not to press charges against those involved.” .

Baldwin, who claims it was an accident but not one for which he was responsible, has not commented.
He insists he didn’t pull the trigger and instead claims that the malfunctioning gun was tragically loaded with bullets instead of bullets and fired on its own.
The sheriff’s department has yet to release its report and it’s unclear what the delay is.
Gunmaker Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was 24 at the time and became a quick scapegoat, says she too is not to blame.
Meanwhile, Hutchins’ widower Matthew has dropped a lawsuit against Baldwin and production of the film.
He had charged them with wrongful death, but withdrew after reaching a secret settlement.
While the terms of that settlement have not been made public, he will now act as producer on the film once production resumes.
