Special: 20th CPC National Congress
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said on Sunday that the party should always pursue self-reform on the road ahead.
“A political party can only become invincible if it remains committed to self-reform, even if it has had a glorious past,” Xi said during a meeting with the press in the Great Hall of the People.
The revolutionary tribulations and moderation of the past century, and especially of the first decade of the new era, have made the CPC stronger and more dynamic, Xi said.
Xi urged CPC members to remain vigilant and to remain sober and cautious in the face of new challenges and tests on the journey ahead.
“We must ensure that our age-old party, the largest in the world, grows ever more powerful through self-reform and remains the strong backbone on which the Chinese people can lean at all times,” Xi added.
