It was another busy day at Wimbledon, with plenty of notable events on and off the pitch.

From Rafa Nadal’s Covid courtesy to Katie Boulter’s date to forget, there were some interesting talking points.

sports postDANIEL MATTHEWS provides the inside track on the Wimbledon action.

Britain’s Katie Boulter was forced to witness the grueling defeat of her boyfriend Alex de Minaur

SECURITY GET SHIRTY

Wimbledon has been accused of attempting to stifle activists wearing T-shirts asking, ‘Where is Peng Shuai?’ Four men claimed they had been told by security not to approach other fans about the Chinese player, sparking anger among the likes of Martina Navratilova.

A spokesman for the All England Club confirmed that the men could stay and keep the T-shirts on.

RAFA DON’T BLOW IT IN A BELL

Rafa Nadal seems to have decided – an opponent can deny me the Grand Slam calendar, but not Covid.

The Spaniard and his entourage wear masks, while his team no longer eats out and stays in their bubble. Nadal had a tour of London, but footage shows he never left his car.

Rafael Nadal has reached the quarterfinals through Botic van de Zandschulp. defeat

HEATHER’S QUICK EXIT

Maybe Heather Watson has other plans this week. She retired from mixed doubles with a sore knee and then limped from singles in straight sets.

Monday at 1:30 pm Watson also finished the women’s doubles, as she and Harriet Dart lost to Jelena Ostapenko and Lyudmyla Kichenok.

Talk about clearing your calendar.

BOULTER’S DODGY DATE

Speaking of British heartache, think about Katie Boulter.

She sat through friend Alex De Minaur’s five-set loss to Cristian Garin for four hours and 34 minutes.

That’s more time than Boulter spent on the track heading into the third lap.

Alex de Minaur (above) got two match points in his loss to David Goffin on Monday

‘NO CONTROL’ OVER LATE

Wimbledon has responded to complaints from Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray that it is being changed by TV schedule. After six of the first seven days ended with the Center Court roof closed to finish the games, stars pointed out that the 1:30 p.m. start makes that inevitable. But All England Club chief Sally Bolton said: ‘We have no control over how long matches last.’

MURRAY HITS THE RHODE

Andy Murray has thrown off his Wimbledon disappointment to compete in next week’s event in Newport, Rhode Island, America’s only grass-fed event.

The aim of the 35-year-old Scot is to boost his position at the US Open. He plans to play some tournaments for next month’s major.
