Heartbreaking footage showed a 12-year-old Portland girl being beaten by a school bully, forcing her to send a panic alert to the class after her school ignored a judge’s no-contact order.
Jocelyn Karst was beaten up by an unnamed assailant in the apartment building where they both lived, but the notorious West Sylvan Middle School allegedly enabled more bullying on campus.
At one point, Karst and her mother, Heather Chick, said her daughter tried to bring pepper spray to school to stop what the concerned mother calls ‘vicious’ bullying but it was confiscated.
Video from the October attack shows a student hitting a karst inside the building where they both live and where Chick told DailyMail.com they are unable to move out due to financial problems.
‘She pulled me, threw me down, and then started hitting me a few times,’ said Karst Queen 6. And all I remember is apologizing over and over. I kind of didn’t know what was real at that point.

Your cutie said she was unaware of what was going on, and was cooking dinner at their house at the time.
She adds that she informed the school that she had obtained a protective order against the bully shortly after it happened and it was eventually made permanent, but that the school did nothing to help stop the abuse.
“The teachers and the principal were mostly very aware of what was going on, and they still weren’t following those rules,” Chick said.
“I mean, we would have been … also liable if something had happened to her, you know, to her. Either way, it goes both ways. And nobody set any kind of rules or boundaries.”
She added that the video being shared around campus led to more bullying towards her daughter.
KOIN 6 reports that there have been at least three other bullying attacks at West Sylvan Middle School in recent months.
Chick and Karst emailed the school on March 9, writing: I am aware of multiple acts of violence that seem to continue to occur at West Sylvan Middle School. Although this pattern concerns me, I specifically need to know what steps you will take to protect my clients while they are at your school, in accordance with the terms of the attached order.
Portland Public Schools president Dr. John Franco claims the identified student has not been on campus since March 8.

Chick fought to get a restraining order against a bully but claimed the school would not honor him the next day
“There is a national crisis about student disorganization, and we in Portland are not immune to that crisis,” Franco said in a statement.
“We have, and will continue to, prioritize social emotional learning (SEL) support for students through SEL curricula, increasing the number of quality mental health providers, and professional development for teachers and staff.”
Chick, speaking to DailyMail.com, claimed that she did not hear from the school directly about any of her complaints and does not believe she ever was, given that the student was allowed into the school one day after the restraining order was terminated.
When she called them, she said, school officials laughed and her daughter said they shook their heads.
“An hour later, we learned that this girl attacked another girl in the restroom with four others.”
Chick, speaking to DailyMail.com, claimed she did not hear from the school directly about any of her complaints and does not believe they were ever heard, given that the student was allowed into the school the day after the restraining order was terminated.

Chick states that she and her daughter live in low-income housing and are unable to change where they live or where their child attends school.
We are not protected by anyone here in our residences, in the schools, the police will not honor the injunction because they said they never knew the legal ways they could do it. The system is very fickle and they need help to help our youth.
The Portland Public School says it has added a “campus safety assistant” to stop these attacks, but Karst believes more should be done, including investigating the school district.
“The principal and deputy principal should gain knowledge of this,” Karst said. The violence made me not want to be there. It made me fear for my life.
Chick just wants to go to school to show some kind of concern for her son’s welfare.
“They go to school for many hours,” she said, “and these kids depend on these adults to look after them, to watch over them, to keep them safe, and to teach them.” “What they’re teaching them now is that no one cares.”
