NNA – The office of the President of South Africa announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the quot;BRICSquot; summit in the country, and the office stated that this was a joint decision, according tonbsp;quot;Tassquot; agency.

The office added that the Russian president quot;by mutual agreementquot; will not attend the quot;BRICSquot; summit in the Republic, provided that Russia will be represented at the summit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa had previously stated that the request to arrest Putin during the quot;BRICSquot; summit was reckless and contrary to the country#39;s constitution.

News24, quoting the presidentrsquo;s testimony before the African Gauteng Province Court, explained that if ldquo;the Republic of South Africa decides to arrest Putin during the upcoming BRICS summit, in implementation of the decision of the International Criminal Court, this will be considered tantamount to declaring war on Russia, which is inconsistent with the Republicrsquo;s constitution.rdquo; quot;
