Tens of thousands of football fans were left stranded at Sydney’s Olympic Park after the Matildas’ crushing defeat to England in the Women’s World Cup semi-final.
Photos show a massive crowd draped in green and gold waiting on the platform after Wednesday night’s game.
According to Sydney Trains, a power supply problem has caused major delays with a warning for commuters to allow extra journey time.
“Trains are running late due to power supply issues affecting equipment at Ashfield,” a statement from Sydney Trains read.
“If you are returning home to the city, you have the option of joining a service from Olympic Park to Lidcombe and switching to a T3 Bankstown Line service as a diversion around the affected area.”
