NNA – In partnership with the United Nations Development Program, Lebanon#39;snbsp;Environment Ministry tooknbsp;an important step towards preserving the environment and restoring burned lands through the quot;Land Degradation Reduction Projectquot; funded by the Global Environment Facility, a step thatnbsp;represents the first experiment in restoring a fire-affected forest site through soil stabilization techniques.

This initiative included comprehensive technical training, both theoretical and applied, in which forest rangers, volunteers from environmental associations, representatives of municipalities, environmental experts, and university students underwent practical and field training.nbsp; The aim is to reduce the deterioration of burned lands, forests in particular, by stabilizing the soil in order to combat erosion and protect it.

This initiative also reflectsnbsp;the Ministry of Environmentrsquo;s strong commitment to its plan to protect forests from fires and the joint and cooperative work to achieve sustainable management of natural resources.
