A spokeswoman for the Royal Flying Doctor Service said he had suffered multiple injuries and his left arm had been ‘almost severed’.
Paramedics attended to him after he was brought back to shore by boat at 11.30, where he was then taken to Hedland Health Campus under priority 1 conditions.
Peck was later flown to Perth Royal Hospital for surgery in a stable condition.
Mr. Peck’s wife Emily recalled the moment she received the news about her husband.
“(It was) just that sinking feeling in your stomach and I swear all the blood just drained from my face,” she shared 7 News.
“It’s not a phone call you ever want to get… You immediately expect the worst when you hear the shark attack,” Ms Peck added.

In a twist to what was already a tragic incident, this was actually Mr. Peck’s last trip on the boat – where the couple had made plans to sell it.
Mrs Peck’s son said “his dad is so brave”.
“I think the boys on the boat kept him fairly sheltered from any trauma,” Ms Peck added.
The WA Department of Fisheries is working with local authorities and urged people to take extra precautions in the Port Hedland area.
