Hairy Biker Dave Myers has revealed for the first time that the chemotherapy that treats his cancer is working.
The TV chef, 64, who made his cancer diagnosis public in May, says his treatment has left him with ‘sore eyes’ as his eyelashes have fallen out, and it has also affected his taste and smell.
Dave has admitted, however, that he developed an unlikely craving for cottage pie and Vimto after he last enjoyed the soda as a child.

He explained: ‘Right now I’m undergoing treatment for cancer and it’s just another chapter.
“I went to the doctors complaining about certain things and bumps and before I knew it I got a phone and told me it was a tumor and I was going to have chemotherapy.
‘Fortunately, the chemo works, but it is the effect that chemotherapy has on you. Every day is a school day.
‘My eyes hurt because my eyelashes have fallen out – that kind of bullshit is really annoying.
‘But I’ll get there. I have to go in tomorrow for another lot. I’ll just get through it.’

The podcaster, who chose not to reveal the type of cancer he has, vowed he will “never whine about anything again” once he recovers from the disease.
He added: ‘I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. But when I get through this, I’ll never whine about anything again. I am going to embrace life and all it has to offer.
“I can’t eat garlic at the moment, the smells are really acute, it’s all run amok. I’ve been told it’s coming back.”
Dave married Lily in 2011 after the couple met while filming The Hairy Bikers in Romania and said he has struggled since his cancer diagnosis to enjoy a glass of wine with his wife, opting for a drink instead. which is a favorite with children.

He explained: ‘I’m craving cottage pie and Vimto. Lil sits down with a nice glass of Burgundy, and I have a pint of Vimto. The last time I had Vimto was when I was eight.’
Dave spoke about his medical condition on Kate Thornton’s podcast White Wine Question Time alongside his Hairy Biker other half, Si King, 55, who admitted it was “hard” watching his friend go through this.
Si said, “It’s hard to see someone you love in those trenches. It’s really heavy. It’s as strong as an old boot, and we all rely on that. He’s as hard as nails.’
In May, Dave explained his cancer diagnosis, saying he’ll be a ‘bald motorcyclist’ for a while – but he suits having no hair.
He said, ‘I may be a bald biker for a while so it’s just a warning, I don’t want to make a fuss about it, I actually look quite bald.’
The former Strictly contestant, who said “I don’t want to hide under a rock” in May, was last seen in public next to Si last month, waving and smiling at photographers.
