A police officer in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná murdered six of his relatives and two random strangers before using his work weapon to shoot himself, allegedly unable to accept his wife’s intention to end their marriage.
Fabiano Garcia, 37, hunted down his wife, 28-year-old Kassiele Mendes, and his 12-year-old stepdaughter Amanda Menes, and stabbed them both at their home in the town of Toledo in Paraná after finishing his shift shortly after 7pm. time, the military police said.

Fabiano Garcia then shot himself in his own car early Friday.
A voice message prior to the murders revealed that the officer was concerned about the divorce from Kassiele Mendes. He was also angry about the mounting gambling debts and said he committed the murders because he did not want to leave any responsibility for his loved ones.
Military police said Fabiano Garcia had no mental problems.
“The secretariat of public security regrets the case that took place in Toledo and Céu Azul and informs that the civil, military and scientific police will make every effort to determine the reasons for the events,” said the 19th Battalion of the Military Police in a press release.
