Emmerdale fans slammed the ‘stupid’ Friday episode when Charles Anderson was wrongly arrested for the hit and run that left Alex’s life on hold.

Outraged viewers exposed holes in the story after the priest (Kevin Mathurin) was arrested “without evidence,” claiming that “the Houghton Police Station needs new detectives.”
During the programme, the police are seen talking to Naomi (Karen Peter) who tells the duo that the father “didn’t approve” of her relationship with Alex.

She explained, “My dad thinks he stole some medicine from a pickup truck at the pharmacy and he didn’t like that Alex and I were an item at first.”
“Which I get because he was in jail and my dad was a little protective.”
“So your father knows Mr. Moore well?” I asked the police.
Investigators then went to speak to Charles and later found a suspicious dent in the hood of his car.
Charles denies involvement in the hit-and-run but admits that he “handed Alex” after witnessing the robbery, which resulted in damage to his car.
The deputy went to the police station for a series of voluntary questions but failed to provide an excuse for his whereabouts at the time of the hit and run.
“We will know more once the vehicle impact check is done… but we will arrest you on suspicion of dangerous driving,” the policeman said.
‘I will begin to pray that Mr. Moore will pass,’ warned another officer.

During Thursday’s episode, several flashbacks saw a bloodied Alex (Liam Boyle) lying on the road after being mowed down in a hit-and-run.
As the show evolved, we saw the events that led up to the horrific scenes. The drama began when Alex stole medicines from a pharmacy’s van.
But the thief is discovered by Charles, who finds the loot in the back of his car, and proceeds to chase Alex down the street and pin him down.
Alex tells him, “I’ve got a lot of debt, I just want to get myself out of this mess,” before punching Charles and throwing the priest’s phone into the water.
Charles later informs the police and is frustrated with Naomi’s reaction to what he told her about Alex.
Then he grabbed his keys and headed out on a trip to get some “fresh air”.
At the side of the road, Alex is on the phone with Claire, but when he hangs up and gets out onto the road, he is hit by a passing car.

As Alex lies lifeless on the floor, Billy walks up to him before screaming in frustration at what he’s done.
He quickly returns from the scene, leaving Alex panting on the road.
The show ended with Billy returning to the scene only to discover that the police had overrun the area.
After confessing to Dawn, she tells him to keep quiet and says they only have a problem if Alex is alive because he might tell the officers that Billy was behind the accident.
