A 4-bedroom house in the English countryside is on the market for $11 million, and it comes with a windmill that was converted into a 2-bedroom guest house

Cobstone Mill comes with an outdoor pool and windmill that was converted into a guest house, according to the Savills online listing.

It is on the market for £9 million, or around $11.4 million, and overlooks the village of Turville in Buckinghamshire, England, the listing states. 

The property is most famously known for being a filming location for the 1968 film “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” a spokesperson for Savills told Insider. Turville is known as a popular movie location because of its natural beauty and because it’s in close distance to major London film studios, the spokesperson added.

There is a large tractor barn, workshop, store, and stable building on the grounds of the property, according to the listing.

In 2016, planning permission was given “to substantially extend the main house,” the listing states. The future owner will possibly be able to “double the size” of the house with an addition of two or three bedrooms, the Savills spokesperson told Insider.

The room has floor-to-ceiling doors that open to an outdoor balcony that overlooks the pool, the listing states.

The bedroom photographed has a walk-in closet and two large windows, which allow for plenty of natural light.

The windmill was used to grind cereal until 1873 and was subsequently restored for the filming of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” in the 1960s, the listing states. 

After the movie became internationally renowned, actress Hayley Mills and her husband, the film director Roy Boulting, purchased the property, according to the listing. 

The listing states that the home was owned by a number of people, including David Brown of Aston Martin, before being sold to the current owner, who is not named in the listing.

It’s not known which of the former owners converted the windmill into a guest house, the spokesperson said. However, it is known that Mills and Boulting “undertook a major restoration project” after purchasing the property at auction, according to the listing.

The spokesperson said that the property would be well-suited to someone who could use it as a weekend home or someone who would use it as a family home. They added that it’s also likely to draw the attention of film buffs, not only because of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” but because of the area’s overall connection to film.
