NNA – Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi believes there are questionable and condemnable reasons behind the delay in electing the President of the Republic.
In a celebratory Mass for the Feast of Saint Maroun, he said, quot;We do not know why the parliament is not called upon to fulfill its first duty, which is to elect a president for the republic.quot;
He warned against attempts to turn the Maronites from messengers into followers quot;as they played a decisive role in establishing the Greater Lebanon.quot;
Al-Rahi pointed to Lebanon#39;s cultural and religious diversity, stating that because of this specificity and others, Lebanon has a positive, neutral system that gives it a role of mediation and commitment in consolidating justice among people.
He considered that the Maronites were facing a programmed process of exclusion, starting from the closure of the presidential palace to the violation of the Lebanese constitution.
He emphasized that saving the country requires a president who puts an end to false national unity governments, rejects all illegitimate weapons, challenges those preventing the closure of the loose borders with Syria, and challenges countries working on resettlement. — LBC
