NNA ndash; Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ali Hamieh, on Monday met with MP Ibrahim Kanaan, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee. Talks between both men reportedly discussed the latest developments in ministry-related projects, focusing on mechanisms and procedures to streamline and expedite work across various state institutions.
The meeting also addressed the maintenance of key roads in the Metn district.
Minister Hamieh emphasized the importance of accelerating administrative procedures among different state departments within the framework of existing laws.
quot;Ensuring the swift completion of administrative processes is crucial for enhancing the functionality of vital sectors and facilities, particularly those managed by the Ministry of Public Works,quot; Hamieh stated.
Furthermore, Hamieh highlighted the significant role that parliamentary committees play in strengthening cooperation between the executive and legislative branches, benefiting public welfare.
Hamieh then pointed out that several reform-oriented projects prepared by the ministry could be implemented by presenting them as legislative proposals in Parliament. quot;These projects, which attract investments while maintaining state sovereignty over its assets, are essential for the national treasury,quot; he added.
In turn, MP Kanaan echoed Minister Hamiehrsquo;s vision for improving administrative procedures for the public good, praising the positive contributions of Minister Hamieh and his team, particularly in road rehabilitation and maintenance.
Kanaan also noted the constructive collaboration with the ministry in recent months, highlighting the maintenance work on roads in Metn. quot;The tendering process has begun with the Public Procurement Authority for the roads of Northern Metn, and following the ministryrsquo;s approval, it is now headed to the Court of Accounts,quot; he added.
Looking forward to continued collaboration in 2025, Kanaan conveyed the gratitude of Metn residents for Hamieh#39;s efforts in road rehabilitation following the approval of the 2024 budget. He commended the minister for prioritizing the public interest over political and populist considerations, expressing optimism for ongoing cooperation to benefit all regions.
