Dolly Parton received $100 million from Jeff Bezos for giving children access to books worldwide.
Parton, 76, is the latest recipient of the Courage and Civility award at the Bezos Awards on Friday. The recipient will receive $100 million to “donate to the charities they see fit.”
The much-loved singer seemed shocked when she was handed the gargantuan sum of money — adding, “Did you say $100 million?”
“I’ve always said, I try to put my money where my heart is,” the country legend said when she accepted her award. ‘I’m going to do my best to do good things with this money.
“If people can help, they should help,” said the millionaire, as she accepted her prize in true Dolly fashion: lace, tight black dress and her iconic blonde wig.

In addition to her Imagination Library, Parton donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which helped develop the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
The previous recipient of the award was Chef Jose Andres, who won it for his World Central Kitchen, which feeds people after disasters around the world. He used his $100 million to feed Ukrainians.
Van Jones, the founder of Dreams.org, also won the award last year. Jones said in March he has 10 years to fully disperse the funds.
Parton has not announced how she plans to use hers.
Since Bezos retired from an active role at Amazon, he and his girlfriend have focused their efforts on philanthropy.
Bezos, who is worth nearly $124 billion, recently donated $10 billion to Earth Fund to help with climate change and $200 million to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
