A South Carolina father and son were arrested and charged with murder for killing a machete-wielding neighbor who broke into their land.
Ryan Lindler, Sr., 51, and Ryan Lindler, Jr., 26, are accused of shooting Kevin Newhouse, 36, after an argument.
Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said the father and son, known for operating Lindler Farms out of Columbia, were confronting Newhouse about a previous intrusion that had occurred at another address.
Authorities said the Lindlers prevented Newhouse from returning home. Lindler Jr. claims Newhouse pointed the machete at both men and hit them.
Investigators say Lindler Sr. had disarmed Newhouse before telling his son to shoot the victim.

Lindler Jr. is accused of firing three to four bullets from a Glock pistol, one of which fatally struck Newhouse in the head.
The father and son were arrested last week and are currently being held without bail until they can appear before a Circuit Court judge. Both men were charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
They face life in prison if convicted.
Members of Newhouse’s family said WIS 10 News that the Lindlers confronted Newhouse after accusing him of stealing an item they owned months earlier.
“It bothers me a little bit because based on our experience with Kevin Newhouse and the situation in 2020, that’s when it happened to us,” said neighbor Darlene Harmon, who said Newhouse had invaded her home in the past.
“I knew then that more was being told about this story and I still believe it,” Harmon said.
Helena Price, who described herself as a close friend of Newhouse, believes he was a good person.

The Lindlers are known for operating Lindler Farms out of Columbia, South Carolina.
‘I have always known him as a very helpful person. Someone who helped me several times and I didn’t have to ask and he was there to offer,” Price said.
“People already have a great disregard for human life,” he added. “They are too quick to take a life.”
Eric Bland, whose law firm represents Father Lindler, said the case is about a man defending his property.
“It’s going to come down to property rights, to vandalism, to a history of trespassing… to the right to defend others,” he said. Fox News.

Bland added that the men intend to fight the charges, as Lindler Jr. is getting married in three weeks and is 85 percent of the way through building a house with his fiancé.
“They are father and son who have no criminal record,” he added.
‘They both graduated from Gilbert High School. The son has never had anything on his record except a speeding ticket. Not even a punishment at school.
